In Karachi, targeted killing claimed the life of DSP Ali Raza, a prominent figure in the Anti-Terrorism Department and a close associate of the late SSP Chaudhry Aslam.
As per the initial reports, the attacker targeted DSP Raza in the Karimabad area, where he was fatally wounded by gunfire. He was urgently transported to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital in critical condition but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
Additionally, the gunfire injured a security guard at a nearby building, who later died in the hospital due to his wounds.
The police reported that the attackers, one wearing a helmet and the other an Ajrak, used silenced pistols. Investigators recovered 11 shells from a 9mm pistol at the scene. Initial reports indicate that DSP Raza sustained a fatal gunshot to the head.
In response to the murder, Sindh’s Interior Minister, Ziaul Hasan Lanjar, has taken official notice and directed the DIG of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and the SSP of Central Karachi to provide a detailed report on the incident. He emphasized the urgency of apprehending the perpetrators.
An eyewitness described the chilling moment when two individuals on a motorcycle, both helmeted, targeted DSP Raza as he was alighting from his vehicle near the gate, firing multiple shots that struck both him and the guard.
DSP Ali Raza was known for his dedicated service in the CTD, particularly in operations against terrorism in Karachi, following in the footsteps of his late colleague, SSP Chaudhry Aslam, who was also a victim of terrorism.
