KARACHI: At least one man was killed and a woman injured on Wednesday when gunmen opened fire on the vehicle of a police officer in Karachi.
According to police, attackers on motorbikes opened fire on Sub-Inspector Shamroz Abbasi’s vehicle near Abdullah College in North Nazimabad.
The police officer remained safe as he was not in the car when the gunmen attacked his vehicle, but his wife and driver were injured.
Police said the gunmen attacked the vehicle when the policeman’s wife was going to pick her children from school.
Both the injured were shifted to the hospital, where the driver succumbed to his wounds.
Police said Abbasi’s brothers are also employed in the police department, and that this was not the first time that an assassination attempt was carried out on him.
