The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has filed an inquiry report in an accountability court against Dr Asim Hussain charging him of causing a staggering Rs450 billion loss to the national kitty through corruption, money laundering, illegal allotment of land and grabbing of commission.

The AC judge inquired from the NAB why a reference has not been filed against Dr Hussain despite lapse of so much time following his arrest.

The investigation officer said that the NAB should be given three days time for filing a supplementary reference.

Counsel for Dr Hussain said there was no justification to keep his client in custody if the reference was not filed.

However, the AC judge accepted the NAB plea and sent Dr Asim to jail on NAB remand till March 5 seeking a copy of the reference in the next hearing.

Presenting a letter from the Jinnah Hospital Medical Board in the court, counsel for Dr Asim said that why a surgery of his client was not being allowed to be operated upon despite court orders and doctors’ recommendation.

The court ordered that medical facilities should be provided to Dr Asim as per the medical board s report.
