Doaba Spur dynamited to release water pressure

The water level of Chenab River at Shershah dyke of Multan went down after the authorities blew up the Doaba spur.

Doaba spur blown up yesterday to save Muzaffargarh city. Another breach at Muradabad and Thatta Sialan spurs submerged Muradabad and Bhutrapur in the surrounding of Muzaffargarh. The crops over a large area and hundreds homes were came under the floodwater in Thatta Sialan.

After touching a peak of 371,000 cusecs the water discharge at Panjnad headworks was falling down.

The water level has been high at Shujabad and Jalalpur, while it has started receding at Head Muhammadwala and Bund Bosan.

The Flood Forecasting Division (FFD) has forecast high to very high flood in the Indus River at Guddu on Monday and Tuesday and at Sukkur on Wednesday and Thursday after the peak in Chenab would fall downstream Panjnad.
