DIG Traffic, DIG Operations among 14 killed in Lahore blast

At least 14 people including Traffic DIG Ahmed Mobin and acting DIG Operations Zahid Ikram Gondal  were killed and at least 53 others injured on Monday in an explosion near the Punjab Assembly in Lahore.

Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah said the incident occurred as hundreds of chemists were protesting nearby against a new regulatory law,

The death toll is feared to go up as some of those injured are in critical condition.

According to details, DIG Traffic Captain Mubeen and SSP Gondal along with five other people lost their lives in the blast which also injured at least 40 people.

Captain Mubeen was holding talks with Punjab Pharmacists Association to end the association’s sit-in at the Mall Road when the blast occurred leaving him dead and at least 40 others severely injured.

Police and rescue agencies soon reached the spot and started the rescue operation. A number of injured are in critical condition and are being moved to nearby hospitals. Nine of the injured are said to be in critical condition.

Eight dead bodies and 19 of the injured victims were moved to Ganga Ram Hospital while two bodies and 18 injured victims were sent to M.A.O. Hospital.
