Liam Payne, the British singer and former member of One Direction, tragically died after falling from a third-floor balcony at a hotel in Buenos Aires.
The details surrounding his death are still unclear. Here’s what has been confirmed:
Multiple Trauma and Hemorrhaging
Liam Payne’s body was removed from the hotel and autopsied approximately three hours after his death on Wednesday. The autopsy revealed Payne suffered “multiple traumas” and “internal and external haemorrhaging,” according to the public prosecutor’s office. A preliminary report indicated 25 injuries consistent with a fall from a significant height.
No Resuscitation Possible
First responders at the scene confirmed that, as the head of Buenos Aires emergency services stated, there was “no possibility of resuscitation.”
Concerns of Substance Abuse
Hotel staff alerted emergency services shortly after 5:00 pm, concerned about a guest who appeared to be overwhelmed by drugs and alcohol and was damaging his room. A hotel employee expressed concern over Payne’s potential for life-threatening actions due to his room’s balcony access.
Disturbing Room Condition
Local media displayed images of Payne’s hotel room in disarray, with visible signs of a broken TV, multiple bottles, burnt cans, candles, and traces of white powder on a table. A half-full glass of champagne was also pictured. The public prosecutor’s office confirmed the presence of alcohol and drug-related substances in the room.

Investigation Underway
The prosecutor’s office is interviewing at least five witnesses, including three hotel staff and two women in Payne’s room earlier. Authorities noted that all evidence points to Payne being alone during the incident and experiencing a substance abuse episode.
Legal and Medical Probes
The courts are investigating Payne’s death without suggesting criminal violence at this stage. Results from medical and toxicological tests on Payne’s body are pending.
Liam Payne had previously discussed his struggles with fame and alcoholism. The investigation continues to uncover whether his death was accidental.
