At least five people died when a landslide engulfed their vehicle in Skardu, police reported on Sunday. The landslide buried the passengers under debris. Rescue teams have mobilized to recover the bodies from the site. According to the police, all the deceased hailed from Shengus village.

In another tragic event in Azad Jammu and Kashmir’s Neelum Valley, three people lost their lives when their jeep, travelling from Sharda to Kel, swerved off the road and fell into a ditch.

Dr. Muhammad Ashraf Khan noted that the accident injured seven other passengers, with two suffering critical injuries and requiring hospitalization. Witnesses noted snowy road conditions, which impaired visibility and traction, caused the accident. The victims were from the same family.

Elsewhere, in Astore, a vehicle accident left six passengers injured after their vehicle plummeted into a ravine. Police have transported the injured to a hospital for treatment.

These incidents unfolded against changing weather, bringing intermittent snowfall to the northern regions, covering areas like Babusar Top and Nanga Parbat. The adverse weather conditions have rendered the terrain perilous, leading to frequent landslides and road accidents.
