Shabbir Ahmed, a police inspector, shared the harrowing details, stating that authorities have arrested four suspects who confessed to the crime.

“My daughter was smothered with a pillow, and her body was cut into 25 pieces using a sharp knife and a meat cleaver,” Zahra Qadeer’s father stated

Ahmed explained. He added that the culprits then packed her body parts into various bags and disposed of them in the drains.

Zahra Qadeer, a 31-year-old from the village of Kot Mand in Gujranwala and mother of one, was married to a man from Kotli Marlan. The man currently works abroad and has been unreachable by the police.

The murder occurred in Kotli Marlan village, where Zahra while performing prayers, was killed by her in-laws. Rana Umar Farooq, District Police Officer (DPO) of Sialkot, detailed during the local news channel, ARY News program ‘Ba Khabar Sawera’ that the prime suspect, Sughra Bibi, collaborated with her daughter Yasmeen and two male relatives to commit the murder.

Farooq stated that the suspects dismembered Zahra’s body, burned her head to hinder identification, and then placed the remains in bags, which they dumped into a canal to hide their crime. He noted, “The suspected women had acquired the skills to execute this gruesome act from watching Indian movies.”

Sughra Bibi, the prime accused, has been arrested along with her daughter Yasmeen, grandson Abdullah, and another relative, Naveed. The case emerged following an initial complaint by the suspects claiming Zahra had eloped, which further investigation proved false, revealing the grim reality of her murder. The case was registered based on a complaint by Zahra’s father.
