Startling revelations have surfaced, indicating that members of agencies tasked with crime control in the country are allegedly contributing to the rise in criminal activities.
According to reliable sources, officers from the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD)—an agency founded to combat terrorism nationwide, have been implicated in illicit activities, including smuggling and kidnapping for ransom.
Recent incidents have led to legal actions against certain CTD personnel. A case has been registered at the Gulshan-e-Maymar police station against a CTD officer accused of smuggling betel nuts, known locally as chalia. This follows earlier allegations linking the officer to kidnapping for ransom.
In a related event, CTD officers Fayyaz Shah and Anar Khan are alleged to have aided betel nut smugglers. According to police reports, these officers warned smugglers about law enforcement movements. When the Gulshan-e-Maymar police acted on a tip and raided a suspected location, they were met with a surprising scene: a bus loaded with 80 bags of betel nuts was being guarded not only by a standard police mobile but also by an armoured vehicle.
During this operation, individuals at the scene, dressed in plain clothes, initially claimed to be CTD officers when questioned by the raiding police team. These claims, however, took a violent turn when the purported CTD officers drew weapons and threatened the police, facilitating the smugglers’ escape.
The incident severely repercussions the involved CTD officers, with charges filed against Fayyaz Shah and Anar Khan. These charges include obstructing public servants from performing their duties and interfering in official matters, reflecting the gravity of the accusations and law enforcement officials’ potential breach of public trust.
