Recent earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, which have claimed over 50,000 lives, motivated Cristiano Ronaldo to send a plane full of aid supplies to the victims.
The magnitude 7.8 earthquakes that slammed southern Turkey and northern Syria on February 06 left thousands homeless, missing, or injured.
More than 500,000 people have been evacuated from the affected area in Turkey. According to Reuters, the disaster caused the collapse or damage of 160,000 buildings.
Ronaldo, who left Manchester United in November to join Saudi League club Al Nassr, has purchased tents, medical equipment, warm clothing, bedding, food, and baby necessities to support the relief effort.
Ronaldo, 38, also granted the request of a Syrian youngster who informed rescuers he wished to meet him.
Nabil Saeed was invited to see Al Nassr’s 3-1 victory over Al Batin in Riyadh, where he met Cristiano Ronaldo and posed for photographs.
Saeed told Reuters, “When I first saw Ronaldo, I believed it was a dream. I didn’t trust myself. This dream’s exact conclusion was unclear to me. If God wills, I pray that it is not a dream. I wish everyone could see Ronaldo. He is a very pleasant man “.
