Cristiano Ronaldo has confirmed he buys stake in Almeria, acquiring 25% of the Saudi-owned Spanish second-division club. The announcement was made through his sports holding company, CR7 Sports Investments, although financial details were not disclosed.
In a statement, Ronaldo described the move as a strategic investment reflecting his long-term commitment to professional football ownership. He said it had long been his ambition to contribute to the game beyond his playing career.
Almeria, currently third in Spain’s second division, is just one point away from the automatic promotion places. The club was last in the Spanish top flight in 2024.

As Ronaldo buys a stake in Almeria, he joins the Saudi group SMC, which owns the club. Almeria president Mohamed Al Khereiji welcomed the partnership and suggested Ronaldo could help strengthen the youth programme.
“He knows the Spanish leagues very well and understands the potential of what we are building,” Al Khereiji said.

Ronaldo has been playing for Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League since 2023. He also holds a stake in his Saudi club, further expanding his footprint in football ownership.
Last October, Ronaldo became the first footballer to be included in Bloomberg’s Billionaire Index, underscoring his growing business influence beyond the pitch.
The 41-year-old forward recently returned to Al Nassr’s first team following a disagreement over transfer policy. He has since scored four goals in his last three matches.
Ronaldo is also set to participate in what could be his sixth World Cup next summer, a tournament he has indicated may be his final appearance.
