The Sindh High Court’s (SHC) Hyderabad circuit bench barred police and the FIA from rearresting Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Azam Swati until January 11.
A two-member court bench issued the ruling while hearing petitions against the 74-year-old senator for his tweets against senior military officials.
The circuit bench handed notices to the Sindh IGP, Hyderabad DIG, and FIA, directing them to present the senator’s cases at the next hearing.

The judge stopped police from rearresting the PTI leader on Hyderabad FIRs.
Last month, police in Karachi, Quetta, Jacobabad, Qambar, and other towns registered FIRs against the PTI politician over his inflammatory comments.
First arrested in October over a controversial tweet, he threatened the army leader, the judiciary, and other state institutions.
The senator got bail. The FIA arrested him again on November 27 for using hostile language towards top military commanders, including the then-army leader.
Swati was transferred to Quetta on December 2 after the judicial magistrate in Islamabad handed over his custody to Balochistan police. He faced cases in Bela, Hub, Khuzdar, Pasni, and Zhob police stations. The BHC later dismissed all his cases.
On December 9, the Balochistan High Court (BHC) rejected all FIRs against Swati for his tweets against high military officers.
Court decisions transferred the imprisoned PTI leader from Balochistan to Sindh.
A Qambar court accepted Swati’s three-day physical remand on 12/11 for a controversial tweet.
The SHC also prevented provincial police from detaining the PTI leader in new instances, combining two petitions filed by his son Usman Swati demanding the dismissal of all cases against the ailing politician.
