A countrywide anti-polio drive is underway in which hundreds of thousands of children will be immunized from the virus.
Polio officials have said that a three day anti-polio drive is underway in Sindh’s capital Karachi in which more than 2.3 million children will be administered polio drops. The health workers have refused to perform their duties due to lack of security at New Karachi area of the city.
Health Ministry stated that 39 teams have been formed for the campaign in Punjab that will immunize 7.5 million children across the province.
The polio health workers will also be stationed at railway stations, inter-city bus terminals and transport offices that will administer polio drops to the children whereas government teams will perform their duties in hospitals and health centres.
