Pasha, who was with Nasir in their car during the incident, shared her experience in a video statement. “After dinner, we were returning home when a white Vigo vehicle blocked us and almost caused an accident. Then, about 15 men armed with guns seized my husband by force,” Pasha recounted, calling for everyone to assist and pray for her husband’s prompt return.
Nasir, who ran as an independent candidate during the 2018 general elections in Karachi, had recently voiced criticism over the crackdown on the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, as well as legal proceedings against individuals purportedly involved in riots. His work addressing sectarian violence earned him a spot on the 2013 Foreign Policy Magazine’s list of three inspirational Pakistanis.
Three journalists – Imran Riaz Khan, Aftab Iqbal, and Sami Ibrahim, all identified as PTI supporters, were similarly taken into custody earlier this month. While Ibrahim and Iqbal have since been released, Khan’s location remains unknown.
