The NFL’s annual Awards 2024 ceremony, celebrated for distinguishing the league’s premier talents based on votes from AP journalists, was conducted in Las Vegas preceding Super Bowl LVIII at Allegiant Stadium in 2024.
The event also spotlighted the induction of the 2024 NFL Hall of Fame class, including luminaries such as Dwight Freeney, Andre Johnson, Randy Gradishar, Patrick Willis, Steve McMichael, Julius Peppers, and Devin Hester.
The ceremony recognized the following individuals for their exceptional performances during the 2023 regular season:
- 2023 NFL MVP: Lamar Jackson stood out despite a setback in the AFC Championship. He had a remarkable season, showcasing 3,678 passing yards, 821 rushing yards, and 29 touchdowns, propelling the Baltimore Ravens to the AFC’s top position.
- 2023 Offensive Player of the Year: Christian McCaffrey received this honour, highlighting his significant statistical contributions and near missed for the MVP, marking his season’s excellence.
- 2023 Defensive Player of the Year: Myles Garrett secured this accolade, surpassing competitors like T.J. Watt, Micah Parsons, and Maxx Crosby by amassing 14 sacks, four forced fumbles, and 17 tackles for loss, marking his first receipt of the DPOY award.
- 2023 Offensive Rookie of the Year: CJ Stroud emerged as the uncontested winner, credited to his crucial role and outstanding debut season performance, which saw the Houston Texans advance to the second round of the NFL Playoffs.
- 2023 Defensive Rookie of the Year: Will Anderson Jr. was chosen over contenders such as Jalen Carter, underscoring the Texans’ astute first-round selections in the preceding April draft (Stroud and Anderson).
- 2023 Comeback Player of the Year: Joe Flacco, at 39, revitalized his career by steering the Cleveland Browns into the playoffs amidst quarterback challenges, demonstrating his enduring talent in football.
- 2023 Coach of the Year: Kevin Stefanski navigated through significant team injuries to secure an 11-6 record and a playoff spot for the Cleveland Browns, also revitalizing Joe Flacco’s career, earning him the Coach of the Year title once again since 2021.
- 2023 Assistant Coach of the Year: Jim Schwartz was recognized for transforming the Browns’ defense into one of the season’s top units, contributing to Garrett’s first DPOY award under his guidance.
