Colin Munro’s explosive 82 runs propelled Islamabad United to a seven-wicket victory over Karachi Kings in the 15th game of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 9 at National Bank Stadium Karachi.
The Kings, batting first, posted 165/5, thanks to a crucial unbeaten partnership between Pollard and Irfan. Karachi’s innings stumbled early when Tim Seifert fell for 8 in the third over, bringing the score to 17/1.
In the aftermath, Captain Shan Masood and Leus du Plooy briefly revived the innings, adding a quick 40 runs in five overs. However, du Plooy’s stint ended in the eighth over by Salman Ali Agha, having made 24 from 15 balls, including four fours.
Masood, attempting to stabilize the innings, was dismissed by Hunain Shah in the 10th over with 27 from 30 balls, featuring three fours.
The situation worsened for the Kings as they lost Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Nawaz, both for six, reducing them to 89/5 by 13.1 overs.
At a critical juncture, Kieron Pollard and Mohammad Irfan Khan forged a resilient partnership, adding an unbeaten 76 runs, pushing the Kings past the 160 mark.
Pollard, leading the charge, remained not out on 48 from 28 balls, including two fours and a six. Irfan supported with an unbeaten 27 off 22, hitting four fours. On the bowling front for United, Imad, Naseem Shah, Agha, and Hunain Shah took a wicket.
