Coca-Cola has unveiled a futuristic limited-edition soda, Y3000, developed with the assistance of artificial intelligence (AI). Drawing from global consumer feedback on their anticipations and desires for the future, Coca-Cola amalgamated these insights with AI analysis to formulate the distinctive taste of Y3000.

“Envisioning Coca-Cola to maintain its freshness and relevance even in the year 3000, we embarked on an innovative journey to conceptualize a Coca-Cola flavor from the future,” commented Oana Vlad, the senior director of global strategy at Coca-Cola. “We synergized human creativity and AI to craft an optimistic representation of the forthcoming times as perceived by Coca-Cola.”

This sugar-free beverage will temporarily be available in several markets such as the U.S., Canada, China, Europe, and Africa. Additionally, the packaging of the drink is AI-inspired, portraying a dynamic and progressive liquid state through shifting forms and hues, reflecting a hopeful outlook on the future.

Coca-Cola joins other industry giants in leveraging AI for product development. Earlier, Campbell Soup utilized AI to develop its Chunky Ghost Pepper Chicken Noodle soup, and Sapporo managed to halve the time for creating new beverages with AI assistance. Though the integration of AI in the food and beverage sector is nascent, it’s evident that it holds transformative potential for product creation and promotion.
