COAS Gen Raheel, US CENTCOM commander discuss Afghan security situation

General Joseph L. Votel, incoming commander United States Central Command (US CENTCOM) called on General Raheel Sharif, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) earlier today at General Headquarters (GHQ).

According to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the matters of mutual and professional interests with special emphasis on security situation in Afghanistan came under discussion.

The visiting dignitary lauded the role of Pakistan Army for bringing peace and stability in the region, ISPR said in a press release.

Earlier, on arrival at General Headquarters, a smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Army presented a Guard of Honour to the visiting dignitary. General Joseph L. Votel also laid floral wreath at Yadgar-e- Shuhada to pay homage to martyred soldiers and officers of Pakistan Army.
