Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif called Pakistani Test skipper Misbahul Haq and congratulated the national team over victory against England at Lord’s Test.

DG Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lt-Gen Asim Bajwa tweeted on Twitter, “Historic Pak cricket victory at Lords. #COAS called Pak Cricket team Captain MisbahulHaq and congratulated him and the team on victory,”

Earlier, the victory prompted the whole Pakistan team to perform several press-ups in front of the Lord’s Pavilion — a reference to their pre-tour military boot camp.

Misbah-ul-Haq’s side went on an army boot camp before the tour to improve their infamously poor fitness, and batsman Younis Khan led the squad in performing a routine of press-ups followed by a salute in front of the ground’s famous pavilion.

Misbah, 42, had celebrated in similar fashion on the opening day on Thursday after reaching a hundred that helped set up his team’s 75-run win. (AFP/ PhotoNews)
