Chief of the Army Staff General Raheel Sharif on Monday attended the golden jubilee celebrations of Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) at Thalian, near Islamabad toll plaza on motorway, said the Inter-Services Public Relations in statement.

The FWO has played central role in spearheading Army’s contribution in all nation building efforts. He said that over the years, FWO has developed into a strategic organization with tremendous capability to deliver projects of national significance.

In addition to numerous Hydel and mining projects, construction of KKH, Central Trade Corridor through Wazirstan to Afghanistan, Coastal Highway and now over 1000 Kms CPEC roads are some of their signature projects.

Going into inaccessible areas to connect the remotest parts of the country with mainland, highest quality work in least time have been its hallmark. The army chief congratulated them on accomplishing the unthinkable and vowed for whole Army to continue working for security and prosperity of the country.

The COAS paid tributes to 1300 officers and soldiers of FWO for laying down their lives during executions of various national projects since their raising in 1966.
