Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz approved a scheme for interest-free electric bikes available to students on instalment plans.
During a session in Lahore, the government outlined a strategy to offer citizens more than 20,000 electric and petrol motorbikes through interest-free loans.
CM Maryam discussed enhancing student transportation options province-wide in collaboration with former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. They and senior PML-N leaders agreed to implement student support initiatives, including new hybrid bus services.
E-Bikes Scheme
As part of these efforts, the PML-N administration will make 19,000 petrol motorbikes and 1,000 electric bikes available to students, exempting them from interest on their monthly payments.

In partnership with the Bank of Punjab (BOP), this initiative sets instalment payments at Rs 5,000 for petrol bikes and Rs 10,000 for electric bikes.
A lottery in May will select the beneficiaries, with bike distributions commencing that month.
The distribution ensures equitable access, reserving half the allocation for male and female students in urban settings. In contrast, rural areas will see a 70% reservation for male students and 30% for female students.
