Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz approved introducing foreign language courses, including Korean, Japanese, German, Chinese, and Arabic, at Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) institutes.
During a meeting to finalize the TEVTA Mapping Plan, Chief Minister Nawaz emphasized the importance of innovative technical training courses to drive economic growth and reduce unemployment. She highlighted the need for advanced market-driven courses at TEVTA institutes.
The Chief Minister insisted that the new curriculum incorporate training in building, textiles, garments, tourism, hospitality, ICT, automobile assembly and repair, food processing, biomedical technology, light engineering, renewable energy, and surgical instruments.
Nawaz directed the relevant authorities to partner with leading industries to facilitate internships, apprenticeships, and job placements. She also supported the creation of the Punjab Overseas Employment Promotion Authority to enhance skilled job opportunities in the international market. She approved collaborating with large-scale construction developers for a ‘Heavy Machinery Driving/Operator Course’.
Furthermore, she authorized the construction of 45 new welding workshops across nine cities and the establishment of modern labs in Gujranwala, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, Multan, Attock, Taxila, Layyah, and Mianwali.
The Chief Minister agreed to hire 1,000 new employees to address the human resource shortage in TEVTA. She also approved an increase in the monthly budget for purchasing training materials, allocating Rs 2,000 per student.
Finally, she mandated implementing biometric attendance systems for teachers to ensure accountability and discipline.
