Punjab’s Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz, has committed to providing 3,200 journalists with residential plots and has directed prompt actions to facilitate the development of Journalist Colony Lahore Phase 2.
According to ARY News reports, this decision was announced following a meeting with Punjab’s Minister of Information, Uzma Bukhari. The Chief Minister instructed the Ministry of Information to expedite the process by quickly completing all legal requirements necessary to provide these plots.
Maryam Nawaz articulated that journalists are indispensable partners in governance, likening them and the government to “two wheels of a vehicle.” She clarified that offering plots to journalists is not a favour but a recognition of their rights. The allocation of these plots will be merit-based and contingent upon fulfilling all legal prerequisites.
