Tyler Perry, a close friend of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, recently tackled rumours about the state of their marriage. Perry provided contrasting insights despite widespread speculation and social media claims suggesting their relationship is troubled.
While at the Paley Honors Fall Gala, Perry shared his thoughts about the couple with E! News. “They love each other. They have a beautiful family, and I just want the best for them,” he explained, characterizing their bond as “a real, pure, and beautiful friendship.”
Prince Harry himself addressed these rumours at the New York Times DealBook Summit. Interviewed by Aaron Sorkin, Harry humorously dismissed the frequent media reports about their marital strife and rumoured multiple divorces.
“Apparently we’ve bought or moved house maybe 10, 12 times. We’ve apparently divorced maybe 10, 12 times as well,” he joked, suggesting that such rumors are so frequent and off-base that they’re easy to disregard. He also sympathises with the “trolls” who consistently find their speculations unfulfilled.
Perry, who has provided significant support for the couple, including offering them accommodation in one of his California homes when they first moved to the USA and serving as godfather to Princess Lilibet, also addressed the invasive nature of public interest in their lives.
In a separate interview with the Sunday Times, he discussed the relentless public curiosity. “But I will say this: what I learned about mentioning them because there’s this insatiable appetite to know all about them—is that any question asked becomes the headline of anything I say,” he remarked.
When questioned about the persistent public fascination with Harry and Meghan, Perry directly challenged the interviewer, “You’re from the UK, you tell me,” highlighting the unique and intense scrutiny they face.
