The ‘vandal extraordinaire’, Gullu Butt, who shot to notoriety after leading a large contingent of police storm troopers while yelling “shair aya shair aya (The lion is coming), as they stormed Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri’s house in Lahore, Wednesday turned out to be a government negotiator, news channels reported.
“I went to Model Town to hold negotiations with the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) leaders, but was forced to take action after coming under attack by a violent mob”, Butt told CIA police in a statement.
According to sources, he surrendered himself to police after calls for his arrest grew too loud for the Punjab government to leave him at large.
Butt, the destroyer, who proudly sports a thick handlebar mustache, was earlier reported to be a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) stalwart as well as a police tout. The PML-N, however, disowned him as one of its workers.

Reportedly, in recognition of this macho-man’s cataclysmic services for Punjab government, he was invested with a title of Sher-e-Lahore by the PML-N leaders.
“Who the hell was he to take charge at Punjab government’s crackdown on Dr Qadri’s followers”, a PAT workers said.
The ‘ Butt-dozer’ relentlessly vandalized dozens of cars outside Minhaj-ul-Quran’s secretariat during a police action, which was primarily aimed at bulldozing the concrete road barriers off the roads in the neighborhood, but later took a bloody turn.
“I smashed the cars outside Minhaj-ul-Quran building with a stick purely out of anger. No one told me to do it.”, Butt told police.
