On his first day in office, the new Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP), Qazi Faez Isa, presided over a full court meeting at the Supreme Court, attended by all the apex court judges. This session is expected to deliberate on the possibility of live-streaming court proceedings and address pending cases.
Upon arriving at the court, Justice Isa received a warm reception and bouquets from staff members. Emphasizing a hospitable approach to those seeking justice at the Supreme Court, he encouraged the staff to assist litigants fully before matters are handed over to the judges.
Maintaining a modest profile, Justice Isa declined a guard of honour and continued using his current vehicle instead of a bullet-proof one, a practice also observed by his predecessor, Umar Ata Bandial.
Justice Isa officially assumed his role as the Chief Justice in a ceremony held at the Presidency in Islamabad on Sunday, with the oath administered by President Arif Alvi. The ceremony was attended by interim Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar and witnessed by Justice Isa’s wife, Sarina.
