The widow of martyred Karachi police officer Chaudhry Aslam has announced that she will produce a film based on her husband’s life and sacrifices.
Chaudhry Aslam, while speaking to ARY News, criticised recent negative portrayals of her husband. She specifically cited depictions in Indian media and films as misleading and reductive.
She argued these portrayals unfairly limit his legacy to operations in Karachi’s Lyari area. “He fought against the TTP and confronted some of the most dangerous terrorist networks,” she stated. “His character is not limited to Lyari.” The upcoming film aims to present his true legacy and service to Pakistan.
Chaudhry Aslam Khan Swati was a renowned Superintendent of Police in the Sindh Police. He earned the title “super cop” for his aggressive stance against terrorism and organised crime. Known as an “encounter specialist,” he was instrumental in neutralising high-profile criminals and militants in Karachi.

He was martyred on January 9, 2014, in a targeted car bomb attack. The blast on Karachi’s Lyari Expressway also killed two officers, his guard, and the driver. The Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan’s (TTP) Mohmand Agency chapter claimed responsibility for the assassination. They cited retaliation for his role in eliminating their members.
The announcement follows the release of the Bollywood film Dhurandhar on December 5. The film has drawn criticism for its caricatured depiction of Karachi. Audiences noted relentless portrayals of violence and bomb blasts. The Lyari neighbourhood was shown more as an action-movie set than a real, resilient community.

His widow’s film seeks to counter these simplified narratives. It will highlight his crucial role in major national counterterrorism operations. The project aims to honour the full scope of his service and sacrifice for Pakistan.
