Authorities have filed a case against Pir Zaheerul Hasan Shah, Vice Emir of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), for allegedly inciting violence against Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa.
The First Information Report (FIR), registered at Lahore’s Qila Gujjar Singh police station by Station House Officer Hammad Hussain, accuses Shah and 1,500 party workers of issuing death threats to the chief justice.
This legal action stems from Shah’s remarks during a protest rally outside the Lahore Press Club, which was organized to contest the Supreme Court’s decision in the Mubarak Sani case.
The FIR invokes the Anti-Terrorism Act and charges related to spreading religious hatred, threatening the judiciary, interfering in state affairs, and obstructing the performance of legal duties.
The filing of the FIR coincides with opposition from several religious groups, including Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Sami (JUI-S), Mili Yakjehti Council Pakistan (MYC), and Wafaqul Madaris-ul-Arabiya (WMA), despite the Supreme Court’s clarifications regarding the sanctity of prophethood in its verdict.
The federal government has publicly condemned the propagation of malicious propaganda against the CJP, asserting a firm stance against such actions.
