“Captain America: Brave New World” premiered this Valentine’s Day, marking Anthony Mackie’s debut as the lead following Chris Evans’s tenure.
The film, part of the beloved Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), has caught attention not only for its on-screen storytelling but also for its controversial production, detailed in a recent Vulture report.
The crew shared insights into the high tensions during filming, primarily attributing them to Harrison Ford’s challenging demeanour. According to team members, this wasn’t just another Marvel project; it was fraught with unprecedented stress and friction, largely due to constant script changes and scene cuts that demanded frequent reshoots.
A crew member candidly expressed concerns about the film’s quality, hinting that internal issues might reflect poorly on the final product. “The action sequences weren’t believable, and there was a pervasive sense of frustration on set,” the source revealed to Vulture.

The atmosphere was further strained by Ford’s behaviour, described as diva-like. “Harrison was exceptionally difficult to work with, often grumpy, which was disheartening as I admire him,” one of the staff members said. His presence, while influential, reportedly led to a stifling work environment, with the crew going to great lengths to appease him.
Financial implications were also significant, as many expensive sequences shot did not make it to the final cut, adding to the production’s challenges. The overarching issue seemed to be the management of high-profile egos, particularly Ford’s, which overshadowed the collaborative spirit typically found on set.

Another crew member reflected on the experience, saying, “It was the most tense Marvel shoot I’ve ever been part of. Everyone felt pressured, like we were constantly under a tight squeeze.”
Despite these hurdles, “Captain America: Brave New World” has launched globally, and the industry is keen to see if it transcends the behind-the-scenes turmoil to win over audiences and critics alike. The film’s reception and the troubled production’s long-term effects on the franchise’s future are still unknown.
