Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday presided over an important meeting of the federal cabinet to discuss the flood situation and ongoing political crisis in the country.
A top official of the National Disaster Management Authority have a detailed briefing to the cabinet over the flood situation and measures being taken for relief and rescue of the flood-affected people.
Chairman NDMA informed that a total of 274 people have so far been killed in flashfloods while a total 1.1 million people have been affected, 45,000 houses destroyed and 3,000 villages were submerged.
He said that a total 10 districts in Punjab were affected, adding Jhang, Chiniot and Hafizabad were severely affected.
Prime Minister also directed officials to immediately take precautionary measures in Sindh to protect lives and property of people.
The federal cabinet is also likely to take stock of current political situation in the wake sit-ins in the federal capital by PTI and PAT.
