Business activities as usual in Karachi as MQM strike call fails

Despite Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) call to observe day of mourning against alleged extra judicial killings workers by Karachi Ranger in Northern Bypass, transport, business activities are as usual on Saturday

Earlier yesterday, the MQM called a strike to observe a day of mourning and requested the traders and transporters to suspend their business activities on Saturday.

MQM leader Dr. Farooq Sattar had said three MQM workers, who were in the custody of Rangers for four months, were killed extra-judicially last night. A fourth worker, he alleged, was killed by Haqiqi terrorists.

This morning routine business activities  was observed except of a few places in Federal B Area and Gulshan-e-Iqbal.

Following the announcement of “day of mourning”, DG Rangers Bilal Akbar warned against ‘forced shutdown’ of business, schools and transport in Sindh in general and Karachi in particular.

“We cannot allow anyone to bring the life in the metropolis to a paralyzing halt,” Rangers said in the statement issued here
