An anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi granted interim bail to Bushra Bibi, former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s wife, in 32 cases. Charged with protests from November 24 to November 27, she appeared in court last Saturday, receiving bail. The court stipulated that her arrest be stayed until January 13, 2025, as reported by Express News. Her attorney, Muhammad Faisal Malik, successfully filed bail petitions across all cases, prompting the court to summon the investigating officers to present relevant records.
The court permitted Bushra Bibi’s vehicle entry to the premises, where PTI leaders, including Simabiah Tahir, showed their support. Defense attorney Faisal Chaudhry was also present. Post-hearing, Judge Amjad Ali Shah sanctioned her bail, allowing her departure from the venue. He planned a visit to Adiala Jail for a hearing related to the GHQ attack case later that day.
Additionally, the Peshawar High Court extended her protective bail until January 16, excusing her from court appearances. This decision followed a hearing by Justices Sahibzada Asadullah and Waqar Ahmad. The court received updates on two cases, focusing initially on their admissibility. It accepted an exemption for Bushra Bibi’s appearance, extended her protective bail, and adjourned the session.
