Bushra Bibi Faces Harassment at Adiala Jail

A group of men targeted Bushra Bibi, wife of former premier Imran Khan, with offensive slogans as she arrived at Adiala jail for a hearing related to a £190 million settlement case.

The unknown men intercepted the vehicle and chanted slogans criticizing her for alleged “black magic,” while police officers reportedly did nothing to stop the incident. The harassment occurred as Bushra Bibi attended the hearing for her interim bail request in the £190 million financial case.

Imran Khan, already imprisoned, was recently remanded to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) custody for a graft investigation. NAB, which conducted a lengthy 13-hour interrogation of the PTI chairman at Adiala Jail, was expected to present its findings in court. However, in a recent turn of events, an accountability court in Islamabad rejected NAB’s request to extend Imran Khan’s physical remand, opting for a 14-day judicial remand.

The case revolves around a £190 million settlement linked to a property tycoon’s laundered money caught by UK authorities during Imran Khan’s tenure in 2019. Imran Khan’s arrest on May 9 was directly related to this case.

Former interior minister Rana Sanaullah accused Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi of being the sole trustees of Al-Qadir Trust, which was allegedly used to conceal corruption. He claimed that instead of depositing the substantial sum into the national treasury, it was intricately rerouted, leading to allegations of financial misappropriation against the former prime minister and his associates.
