Seven-time Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton praised Brad Pitt’s driving skills and predicted that Pitt’s upcoming Formula One movie will be Hollywood’s most authentic racing film to date.
Brad Pitt’s movie, set to be released on June 25, 2025, by Warner Bros and Apple Original Films, combines speed and drama with Pitt’s genuine driving abilities.
Hamilton, a co-producer, praised Pitt’s dedication. “Brad driving at over 180 miles per hour was impressive,” he said at the trailer launch on March 13, 2025. Directed by Joseph Kosinski of Top Gun: Maverick fame, F1 stars Pitt as Sonny Hayes, an aging racer, alongside Damson Idris as rookie Joshua Pearce, with Javier Bardem as their struggling team owner.

During Grand Prix weekends, Pitt and Idris drove modified F2 cars equipped with cameras. They raced for the fictional APX team in tight 10-15 minute slots without the fans noticing. “Brad’s natural talent shone through,” Kosinski said, crediting his motorcycle skills. Hamilton’s early faith in Pitt’s driving ensured the film’s authenticity.

Kosinski called it “a live stage play at 180 miles an hour.” Slimmed-down, remote-operated cameras captured every thrill after months of training for Pitt and Idris. “That’s not acting—it’s real focus,” Kosinski noted, emphasizing Pitt’s effort to keep the car on track.

Building on Netflix’s “Drive to Survive,” the Brad Pitt F1 movie highlights an underdog team’s struggle against titans. “I loved focusing on the last-placed teams,” said Kosinski, who crafted an epic tale of grit and redemption designed to captivate audiences.
