Bonistan Football Club footballer Mohammad Mehboob Baloch among 61 died in the attack on Police Training Centre in Quetta on Monday.
Baloch was one of the best players in Bonistan Football Club and represented club in all major tournaments in the province.
Baloch was recuited in Balochistan police based on his skills set.
Rehmat Baloch, the slain footballer’s father and a retired police official, said the deceased was the youngest of his five children. He was also the family’s only hope to help it resolve its financial constraints.
“He [Baloch] was an honest and kind gentleman, and also our only hope for financial well-being,” he said. Members from the extended family were also hoping Baloch would help them find sustainable career options with his job in the police, the bereaved father added.
Waheed Ahmed, a close relative of Baloch, said the keeper had studied until intermediate and came from an incredibly impoverished family. His brothers primarily worked as labourers and daily wage earners.
