The Sindh government has mandated biometric verification for vehicle registration and transfer to enhance transparency and reduce fraud in the Excise Department.
Sindh Excise Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon detailed the phased implementation of this new system. Beginning July 1st, new vehicle registrations will require biometric verification. Starting November 1st, biometric checks will be mandatory for vehicle purchasers. Eventually, both buyers and sellers must complete this verification.
Sharjeel emphasized that this measure significantly boosts transparency, helping to deter illegal transfers and fraud.
According to Memon, citizens can undergo biometric verification at NADRA e-facilitation centres or local district excise offices. The minister’s ongoing efforts to modernize the Sindh Excise and Taxation Department include enabling showroom vehicle registrations and launching premium number plates to raise funds for flood victims.
