US President Joe Biden made a striking statement on Saturday regarding his political rival, Donald Trump, who will challenge him in the upcoming November elections. Biden described Trump as being fixated on falsehoods.
After losing to Biden, Trump, who abruptly departed the Oval Office in 2021, is entangled in legal issues, including criminal indictments. One notable charge accuses him of inciting the January 6, 2021, Capitol Hill riot.
Speaking at a private fundraiser in Seattle, the 81-year-old Biden remarked, “It’s clear that … when he lost in 2020, something snapped in him.”
“He’s not only obsessed with his 2020 loss, he’s unhinged,” Biden continued, referencing Trump’s unfounded claims about a rigged election.
Biden conceded that the upcoming election would be fiercely competitive against Trump, who faces 91 criminal charges and four indictments, along with a hush money trial in New York City.
Citing recent polls, Biden, the oldest president in US history, expressed confidence yet acknowledged the tight race, noting, “We feel good about the state of the race, but we know the race is close.”
According to CNN polls released Saturday, Trump holds a lead with 49% support, compared to Biden’s 43%.
