Bianca Censori attempted to leave her marriage to Kanye West several times, according to people familiar with the relationship, as concerns over the rapper’s behaviour and mental health deepened.
Sources close to the couple say Censori felt unhappy long before West entered a rehabilitation facility in Switzerland late last year. Insiders describea growing strain in the marriage as West’s public controversies and erratic conduct intensified.
“Bianca had been very unhappy in the marriage for a while and tried to get out a number of times,” a source said.
Relationship Under Public Scrutiny
West, now known as Ye, and Bianca Censori first appeared publicly together in January 2023. The pair were spotted dining at the Waldorf Astoria in Beverly Hills, with reports later suggesting they had already married in a private ceremony.
Although no marriage certificate surfaced at the time, West has repeatedly referred to Censori as his wife. He has also described her as the stepmother to his four children with Kim Kardashian following their divorce in 2021.

West has spoken openly about living with bipolar disorder type I, which he links to untreated mental health issues and neurological damage from a 2002 car accident.
In a full-page letter published in The Wall Street Journal, West connected his recent behaviour, including offensive comments and controversial merchandise, to his mental health struggles. He expressed regret over antisemitic remarks and said he felt deeply mortified by the harm caused.
He later told Vanity Fair that a change in antipsychotic medication triggered a severe depressive episode. According to sources, Censori recognised the seriousness of his condition and encouraged him to seek structured treatment in Switzerland.
