Today, Beyoncé showcased her support for Kamala Harris in the 2024 US presidential elections by sharing a photo of herself wearing a T-shirt with Harris’s image.
The featured photo of Harris dates back to her 1986 days at Howard University, where she earned degrees in political science and economics. This image has been prominently used in Harris’s campaign materials.
Beyoncé was spotted in the t-shirt as she disembarked from her private jet and headed to a studio for a photoshoot, wearing a printed skirt paired with the black t-shirt. The Instagram video capturing this moment included snapshots of a youthful Harris, though it was posted without a caption.
Harris boasts a significantly larger roster of celebrity endorsements than her Republican counterparts, including Taylor Swift, Lebron James, Meryl Streep, Chris Rock, and Oprah Winfrey.
In election updates, various US networks project Donald Trump leading in 20 states, with a favourable position in six of the seven swing states critical for securing the presidency—Arizona, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Georgia, and North Carolina. Current electoral college counts place Trump ahead with 204 votes to Harris’s 112, as both candidates aim for the requisite 270.
This election is particularly historic; should Harris win, she would be the first female, Black, and South Asian American president. Alternatively, a win for Trump, who has been both impeached twice and criminally convicted, would mark the first instance in over a century of a president securing non-consecutive terms.
