Barcelona faces setbacks as star players Robert Lewandowski and Lamine Yamal are sidelined due to injuries and will miss the upcoming UEFA Nations League matches.
Barcelona announced that their star forwards, Robert Lewandowski and Lamine Yamal, will be sidelined for the upcoming international break due to injuries.
Lewandowski sustained a back injury during Barcelona’s 1-0 loss to Real Sociedad, where his goal was controversially disallowed. The club stated, “Lewandowski is experiencing lumbar region discomfort and will need about 10 days of rest. “
Consequently, the 36-year-old will miss Poland’s Nations League matches against Portugal and Scotland, but he is expected to return for Barcelona’s league match at Celta Vigo on November 23.
Yamal, who sat out the San Sebastian game due to a right ankle injury, is projected to miss two to three weeks. This timeline rules him out for Spain’s upcoming games against Denmark and Switzerland and Barcelona’s visit to Celta Vigo. He may also miss the Champions League match against Brest on November 26 and the La Liga game against Las Palmas.
Yamal has netted six goals in 15 appearances this season, while Lewandowski, the current top scorer in La Liga, has tallied 17 goals across all competitions. Barcelona, leading La Liga and ahead by six points over Real Madrid, is positioned sixth in its Champions League group with nine points.
