The lawmakers passed a resolution unanimously in the session of the Balochistan Assembly, seeking formation of a new division comprising districts including Noshki, Chagai, Kharan and Washuk.
The assembly session started with Acting Speaker, Mir Abdul Quddoos Bezinjo in chair, here on Tuesday.
Provincial Minister, Mir Mujib-ur-Rehman Muhammad Hasni and MPAs including Mir Amanullah Notezai, Mir Ghulam Dastagir Badini and Mir Abdul Kareem Nosherwani moved the resolution which reads that four districts including Noshki, Chagai, Kharan and Washuk have over one million population, having borders with Iran and Afghanistan. Two of them were included in Quetta division and other two in Kalat division. The people of the district have to cover 700 kilometers distance to reach Quetta in connection with affairs pertaining to government departments and
educational matters, the resolution said.
It further said that people of the district were pushed into backwardness and ignorance which is atrocity on the people of Chagai, Noshki, Kharan and Washuk. “Therefore, this house recommends the provincial government to form a new division comprising Noshki, Chagai, Kharan and Washuk districts, giving after it name, Rakhshaan Division in order to remove the sense of deprivation among people of these districts,” the resolution concluded.
The movers said that people of these four districts faced several hardships and difficulties to reach Quetta and Khuzdar to visit government offices and educational institutions which caused problems for them.
The chair put the resolution to the house which passed it unanimously.
Later, after completing other proceedings, the house was prorogued. (AFP)
