Babar Azam, the former national cricket team captain, will have his bat displayed in the prestigious Long Room at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
MCG officials have successfully requested Babar to donate the bat he wielded during the 2022 T20 World Cup final.
This bat will join those of cricket legends like Don Bradman, David Boon, Jack Hobbs, and Brian Lara in the Long Room showcase.
Babar expressed his pride: “It is an honour to have my bat placed in the Long Room. I cherish many memories of the MCG, one of the world’s finest grounds. To have my bat alongside those of great batters brings me immense joy.”
Babar also played in Melbourne’s 2022 T20 World Cup final, delivering a remarkable performance.
Upon his recent arrival in Australia, despite some batting struggles, Babar received a warm welcome from fans eager for photos and to express their well-wishes.
He was among the first to join the touring party as the Pakistan ODI squad prepared for their series against Australia. The series runs from November 4 to 18, after which the team will travel to Zimbabwe for matches from November 24 to December 5.
Following a recent 2-1 series victory over England—the team’s first home series win in over three months—Babar and teammates Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, and Shadab Khan celebrated the significant achievement on social media.
