Pakistan’s premier players, Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Afridi, have seen their positions fall in the latest ICC T20I rankings after a 3-0 series defeat to Australia.
Babar Azam has moved down to 5th from 4th, now holding 742 rating points. Mohammad Rizwan also fell to 6th with 719 rating points. Currently, no Pakistani batter ranks in the top 50.
Conversely, India’s Tilak Varma climbed 69 places to third, becoming the highest-ranked Indian batter and overtaking Suryakumar Yadav.
Other players, like India’s Sanju Samson and South Africa’s Tristan Stubbs, have made impressive advances in the rankings. Sri Lanka’s Kusal Mendis and West Indies’ Shai Hope have also risen, standing at 12th and 21st, respectively. Australia’s Marcus Stoinis also advanced ten places to 45th following a significant half-century against Pakistan.
In bowling, Australia’s Adam Zampa and Nathan Ellis made substantial climbs, while India’s Arshdeep Singh reached a career-high 9th. Pakistan’s Haris Rauf rose to 20th, but Shaheen Afridi dropped to 24th. Meanwhile, Imad Wasim fell to 35th in the all-rounder rankings.
In Test batting, Saud Shakeel’s rank decreased slightly, while positive shifts were noted for Babar Azam, Salman Ali Agha, and Rizwan, moving them to 17th, 19th, and 20th respectively.
