Pakistan’s captain Babar Azam scored 1,000 Test runs in a calendar year against England.

Babar reached the one-thousand milestone when he scored 45 on the third day of the Karachi Test against England.

Babar is the sixth Pakistani cricketer to do it, and Younis Khan is the only Pakistani did twice in his career. Younis scored 1,179 in 2006 and 1,064 in 2014.

Other Pakistani players are

  • Mohammad Yousuf scored 1,788 runs in 2006
  • Azhar Ali 1,198 scored in 2016
  • Inzamam-ul-Haq scored 1,090 in 2000
  • Mohsin Khan scored 1,029 in 1982

Babar is the fourth batter in the 2022’s calendar year who scored 1,000 runs. Joe Root has 1,098 runs in 27 innings, Usman Khawaja 1,079 in 19 and Jonny Bairstow 1,061 in 19.

Babar has 1,009 runs from 15 innings, and Pakistan will play New Zealand in Karachi from December 26 to 30. So he might finish 2022 with the most Test runs.
