Pakistan wicket-keeper Azam Khan has cleared his Instagram account of all posts, sparking speculation among social media users that the deletion followed backlash regarding his fitness and selection for the T20 World Cup squad.
Azam, who has faced ongoing scrutiny over his weight, is known for his performances in T20 league tournaments in Pakistan and internationally. Despite the criticism, he has been an active Instagram user, regularly sharing personal photos and videos with his followers.
However, Azam has not publicly addressed the sudden disappearance of his posts. The speculation comes amidst recent criticism over his fitness, particularly following his performance in two T20Is against England on a tour that concluded recently.
Pakistan’s loss in the series, where two matches were rained out and they ultimately fell 2-0, has only intensified the scrutiny.
During the tour, when a journalist questioned his place in the team, fellow teammate Fakhar Zaman defended him, stating that captain Babar Azam and coach Gary Kirsten chose Azam based on his Caribbean Premier League performance.
Despite being the son of legendary wicket-keeper Moin Khan, Azam has struggled to establish himself in the national team since his debut in July 2021.
