In a clip from New Zealand, James Cameron mentioned that Jake Sully (played by Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (portrayed by Saldana) would confront human adversaries and volcanic Na’vi offshoots. The footage showed airborne wooden ships, towed by massive blue stingrays, clashing mid-air with the red-clad Ash People who fired flaming arrows.
The stakes are incredibly high. Following the new box office records set by “Avatar” and “The Way of Water,” the upcoming film “Fire and Ash” could revitalize a sluggish 2025 box office affected by underperforming films such as Disney’s “Snow White.” Cameron noted, “We’re still recovering from the pandemic and the rise of streaming.” He views this film as a potential game-changer for theatres. At over three hours long, it represents a bold investment in immersive storytelling and a crucial opportunity for the industry.
