The Australian government has launched a new mobile application to streamline visa applications for Pakistani citizens. The “ImmiApp” allows eligible individuals to submit key documents and biometric data directly from their smartphones.
Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan, Tim Kane, announced the update on social media. He stated the new process will save applicants both time and money. The app is already successfully used in several other countries. Its launch in Pakistan modernises the visa application experience.
Australia Visa Eligibility and Key Benefits
The app is designed for applicants who have received a specific biometrics instruction letter. The letter must have a Visa Lodgement Number (VLN) starting with ‘AUI’ or ‘AUH’.
Applicants with other VLN codes must still visit a biometric collection centre in person. The new digital process eliminates unnecessary trips for eligible individuals.
It provides a secure and direct way to submit personal information. Data is sent straight to Australia’s Department of Home Affairs and is not stored on the app. Using the app involves a straightforward five-step procedure:
- Enter the VLN: Input your unique Visa Lodgement Number.
- Scan Your Passport: Use your phone’s camera and NFC to read the passport chip.
- Check Information: Verify the scanned details are correct.
- Take a Photo: Capture a live photo against a plain background for identity verification.
- Submit: Send the data directly to the Australian authorities.
Applicants need a smartphone with a camera, NFC capability, and an internet connection. If submitted correctly, the ImmiAccount is typically updated within 24 hours.
