Australia have announced a 17-member T20 squad for their upcoming tour of Pakistan, where the two sides will contest a three-match T20 International series as part of preparations for the T20 World Cup. All matches will be played in Lahore.
Several senior players will miss the short tour. Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, and Tim David have been ruled out due to injury. Australian selectors said the trio have been given extra time to regain full fitness ahead of the T20 World Cup.
The selection panel has used the opportunity to reward strong performances in the Big Bash League. Young fast bowler Mahli Beardman from Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers all-rounder Jack Edwards have earned call-ups. Neither player has made an international debut yet, but both featured in Australia’s wider squad during the recent white-ball series against India.
