Australia secured a remarkable victory over England by five wickets, achieving the highest run chase in the history of One Day Internationals (ODIs) at ICC events.
In an exhilarating Champions Trophy match at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, the Australian team surpassed England’s formidable target of 352 runs.
The match, held on Saturday, saw Josh Inglis lead Australia with a spectacular century, securing victory with 15 balls remaining. England had set a formidable score of 351-8, the highest total in the Champions Trophy’s history, propelled by Ben Duckett’s record-breaking 165-run innings.
This chase set a record for the Champions Trophy and marked Australia’s second-highest chase in ODI cricket history, just behind their 359-run pursuit against India in 2013. It was Australia’s highest-ever chase against England, showcasing their prowess in high-stakes matches.
The victory also places Australia’s effort as the second-best chase on Pakistani soil, closely following Pakistan’s 355-run chase against South Africa earlier in the month in Karachi.
