The Supreme Court is set to review PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s objection to the Islamabad High Court’s decision concerning the Toshakhana case on Aug 23. This case, which will be overseen by a bench led by CJP Umar Ata Bandial, is gaining attention, especially since ASJ Humayun Dilawar has already delivered a verdict. Through Advocate Khawaja Haris Ahmed, Imran Khan’s appeal asserts that the IHC misinterpreted the plea to hand over the case to any judge other than ASJ Humayun Dilawar. The appeal also highlighted perceived flaws in the high court’s judgement process.
‘Political Victimisation’ Petition Rejected
The Supreme Court recently declined Imran Khan’s petition claiming political victimization and the right to a fair trial, citing a lack of public importance concerning fundamental rights. In this petition, Khan, the former prime minister, appealed for a halt on alleged political persecution. He urged the Supreme Court to rectify what he saw as a miscarriage of justice and reinforce the protection of constitutional safeguards.
